DUCHENNE MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY

I hope you will take the time to explore the link to the Parent Project MD. This is near and dear to my heart because my twin sons suffer from this. DMD as I call it is a muscle wasting disease that on out 3500 boys can get. It does not discriminate ! To put it is layman terms, they lack a protein called Dystrophin that hold the muscle together and with out this our boys will end up in a wheelchair between the ages of 9-13. The next to go will be the use of the arms and so down the line until they will succumb to respiratory and heart failure by the usually by the late 20's.. To put it bluntly this disease sucks ! The great new is the PPMD which is made up of parents are working effort's in Washington DC and many scientists to hopefully slow down the progression and someday cure. The problem is that those of us who have boys who are older lack have much time left and this is why it is so important to keep raising money and awareness.
